Talk:Solutions Backwards InitiativeFrom NinWiki
I am in with Wesker. They were possibly trying to securely send back through time all these websites using the banned books to encrypt. The decryption wasn't perfect and bits of the key text shone back through. I also think Eva was working on sending additional information back, and used a different key text, possibly trent. I would wildly speculate these are the numbers, and that the track theory is not out given the rumors of a second disk, or the suggestion of going backwards through the track listing for numbers higher then 24.16.xx. The numbers don't seem to fit in with the books very meaningfully, I have tried. Crieth
As i read the conversation when asked what the key text is banned books are the answer. supposing that the information had to be encrypted to be sent back this could explain why everything sent by the pilgrims includes fragments of key text whitch have "bled" onto the page. however it is not totally out of the question that what was/is encrypted is not what we see i.e. the decryption using the key text has not yet been done. it seems very strange that some form of decryption was done in transit. I've played around trying to use standard types of book cyphers on the text on the pages but most of the results seem to turn out as amusing giberish although this might be because it's hard for me to define exactly where a key text begins and ends. anyone else played with this? ylbissop 20:02, 7 May 2007 (PDT) tHE HOUR IS AT HANDis it possible that SBI's project is starting to deteriorate by sending in messages that haven't been typed yet? later into the conversation, Carolina types her message, the message that was one of the first things said. Would that mean that they're doing more than just sending things back, and caused an interruption in time? Just a theory. lin 15:51, 18 April 2007 (PDT) w8ting w8ting 4 what?what is Wayne talking about here?
ClueIs it 24.19.2 or 24.19.12?
There are four drawings (a sketch, a diagram, and two mirror/optics figures) under the title Shared Images. What are they talking about?
Text discrepenciesThere is a ghost of the text behind the actual text in the chat window. The thing is, after Miguel asks what the key text is, some of it stops reflecting what was actually typed, and starts saying "w8ting, w8ting 4 what?" and "thE HOUR IS AT HAND" respectively. Also, the only time anything is actually typed by Carolina is when Eva tell her to "flood it" (I put it in quotation marks, because I'm unsure what it means) about 5 minutes in. She types what her bug has been putting up. "flood it" must refer to the data being sent as in push as much as you can through the pipe. also "thE HOUR IS AT HAND" and "w8ting, w8ting 4 what?" remind me of the way irc topics or auto messages intrude into conversation ylbissop 20:02, 7 May 2007 (PDT) Mallet(t) RingsThe SBI page mentions Mallet Rings (with one 't'). This could be an interesting dual entendre if it's also meant to refer to Dr. Mallett's work as mentioned here on NinWiki. I did a Google search on "mallet rings" and got several hits on this: How long must I put up with you? Jesus' actions answered his own question.... Until the rooster sins and the sweat stings and the mallet rings And a hillside of demons smirk at a dying God. How long? Long enough for every sin so to soak my sinless soul that heaven will turn in horror, Until my swollen lips pronounce the final transaction "It is finished". How long? Until it kills me. Cute. Very cute. --Mr z 13:19, 7 March 2007 (PST)
connection to the 24.XX.XX numbersPerhaps the numbers serve a double purpose -- a categorization system created in "real life" for the individuals who are creating the Year Zero story, and a system utilized in the Year Zero world by the Solutions Backwards Initiative. Different numbers could correspond to different pieces of data, different messages, where they were sent to in the past, et cetera. This makes more sense to me as far as mining banned books and songs. It seems that the numbers are there to denote items sent from the Solutions Backwards Initiative. Xantres 16:59, 13 March 2007 (PDT) we do also know that the numbers are mirrored on exibit 24 perhaps the pilgrams are sending data relevent to bom's exibit 24 ylbissop 20:02, 7 May 2007 (PDT) The "distortion" in the backgroundMight be worth noting (as further proof to the future websites being sent back theory) that in the Halo 2 ARG, I Love Bees the same distortion occured on its webpages. Given that it's supposedly the same people making both ARG's (42 Entertainment) wouldnt this back up the theory? Phillowe88 12:19, 6 April 2007 (PDT) a dual purpose of the distortion is to make the pages immediately identifiable as part of the YZ experience. ylbissop 20:02, 7 May 2007 (PDT) Some theoriesThe "Solutions Backwards Initiative" (same initials as "Secure Broadcast Informatics") seems to be an attempt by a group of hackers to send some message backwards in time. This mirrors the plot of the book "Timescape" (in that case the information sent backwards is a message about how to save the world from environmental disaster). In this case, we might think it would be information about how to stop the world becoming the repressive horrible place it is in Year Zero. Perhaps in fact the information is the websites we are looking at as suggested earlier. The biblical passage containing "The hour at hand" is about betrayal (it is the part where Jesus knows Judas has betrayed him). It might be suspected that one of the group of hackers in the IRC log is actually betraying the others. The obvious suspect for this is Eva since in crypto texts Eve tries to intercept messages from Alice (alicia) to bob. "Wayne & Carolina @ SBI. Carolina's in the tarpit. Frank is relaying. I'm @ McGill. I've got a class writing an exam--may have to jump out." SBI here would presumably mean "Secure Broadcast Informatics" who have the technology being borrowed for whatever is being attempted. Tarpit would seem to indicate Carolina is doing something dangerous and frank has to communicate with others on her behalf (at one point someone wishes her good luck -- in spanish). Presumably she is doing something which is necessary to send things backwards into the past (our present). "FRANCISCO: Carolina says text is in the bed." May refer to some key text for a book code being placed in a testbed? Perhaps the fact that the websites contain scraps of the "banned texts" and also of NIN songs is to indicate that these were uses as the key texts by the people sending the information back?
A tarpit is a service on a server that delays incoming connections for as long as possible this way attacks/traces by bom would be less effective. ylbissop 20:02, 7 May 2007 (PDT) PossibilityHere's one thing I've been trying to work on with my photo editing program. I think there is a possibility that some of the images that are in the background are pieces of a larger image. Has anyone checked this out besides me?
my vote is that the static is the bleed referred to in the irc conversation we have identified the key text it's unlikly in my opinion that anything else would be there what would be the justification for anything else being there? ylbissop 20:02, 7 May 2007 (PDT)
New Theory on Dates and Time TravelSure, I know, it's 2 years after the YZ craze, but I'm still obsessed and still thinking. The one thing that has puzzled me for so long are the date discrepancies on the AVOTT forums, being a shadowed image of 2/4/0000 and 2/10/0000 for the postings. My ultra-novice theory is thus: the pilgrims sent back all of this information as a warning for what is to come. It was heard, and used properly for preventative measures. And yet, the end still came, just six days earlier/later. Thus sending the message that we can try all we want, and we can be idealistic, trying to prevent this mess...but we're destined for it. We were already too late in 2007. Now, I'm not quantum physics whiz (just a poor lil social worker), so I can't really wrap my brain around some of the theories behind the pilgrims' technology. However, I understand the basic principle of, send something in the past, it affects the future, thus potentially erasing the future, and so on and so forth. Maybe I'm taking this whole thing too literally, but if the pilgrims' efforts had *actually* worked, the people of 2007 wouldn't be getting any of that information. But, they are. It's just +/- 6 days. Or I'm totally off-base and just bored at work. Anyway, the thought of this greatly excited me. Edani 13:50, 5 Februray, 2009 |
