Hi guys. I have a suggestion to make. How bout that, apart from the main story timeline we also compile a detailed timeline about how things have been found ? I have a hunch it might come in handy at some point, and some people will probably be asking about it anyway. The closest thing we have to this now is the "resumed" set of events in the main page of this wiki. I don't mind helping if you guys think it's a good idea (or if it's already being done and i haven't noticed).

No idea how to create a wiki page, but I thought it beared posting...

I looked at the inthistwilight website again and they changed the code. It now says <meta name="Description" content="twilight is going." /> instead of the original "twilight is coming". In addition, the old page had the comment "!-- there are no secrets --" and now that comment is gone.

Would it be possible for somebody or some group of people to do the same bruteforce URL attack that was done to locate some of the hidden images? I'm sure something will turn up for the website.--Drake 00:56, 23 February 2007 (PST)

'I Am Trying To Believe' in YZ trailer

First off, I think there should be a trailer section added to the research page with a link to the QT trailer/page for 'Year Zero.'

Secondly, talking about the YZ trailer, a couple seconds into the trailer, a blue highway sign flashes across the screen. Pausing on it, though unclear, you can see that it reads "I AM TRYING TO BELIEVE." This happens before the camera jerking to show the Presence.

I have no idea how to help with wikis. So this is my two cents.

I'm very pleased to see that the Strong Leads section on Year Zero Research DOES NOT have 24.15.8 as a clue. This is a very very weak lead in my opinion. It still needs to get scrapped from the numbers page, but I'm not bold enough to do it.

Also, as posted below behind the 24.19.X clues, I think the hypothesis that it's yearzero's track listings is completely shot now...And the bible references are to obvious and don't match up with anything in the ARG.

Finding links

In Firefox, you can find all the outbound links in a page by pressing Ctrl-I to get the page information, and then selecting the "Links" tab. (Alternately, you can right click and use "View Page Info.") Is there a similar technique in IE? Is it worth adding this to the note that gives hints on reading these websites? --Mr z 21:38, 12 March 2007 (PDT)

Let me be the first to say WTF. Not even half of those are about God. Yes some mention God, but it doesn't mean it's about God. Hyperpower! is more of an intro and just brings in the fact that America is pretty much an empire now, and how horrific a situation the world is in (screaming and gun fire).

TBOTE has reference's to God, but it's about how people use God to justify their actions. Survivalism, nothing there. Good Soldier, again like TBOTE, the only reference to God was to justify their actions (soldiers being told they're doing God's work). I could go further on every single song, but suffice it to say I strongly disagree with this and the meanings of the songs are very varied from just being about one subject. -Velvolver 11:50, 8 April 2007 (PDT)

I have to agree here with Velvolver. But, I will say the album as a whole is about God, and how we as humans simply use Him as a puppet, or scapegoat. I love the songs In This Twilight and Zero Sum, because after an album full of war, hate and disbelief in God, everyone is forced to face up to the truth and realize "We weren't right. Everything we thought, believed and lived for was false, and there really was something greater going on." Of course by this point it is too late to do anything. This album has a very distinct and strong appeal to human conscious. Trent is trying to get us to see, just as he saw through his addictions and sobriety, that we are all doing things the wrong way, and if we do not change, if we do not take the time to fix things, well nothing lasts forever. Further more on the note of Hyperpower. Hyperpower is a term used in theoretical politics to describe the next level of powers in states (the us as we know it right now is often called a Super Power, as was the USSR during the cold war.) Basically trent's leading in to the album by clearly stating with this intro track that america has ascended the political order to Hyperpower status, but has done so through oppressive and violent tactics (hence the use of a powerful, highly ordered march beat bringing forth chaos and destruction by the end of the track..)

"The Great Destroyer" - affects on frogs

I was listening to Year Zero this weekend. At around dusk, when the frogs get annoyingly aboxious in the field near my apartment in western Washington I went on my back deck while "The Great Destroyer" was playing with the door open. When the lyrics were done and the crazy sounds began the frogs got much louder than they were. A minute or so into the noise I began hearing what I presumed to be the slapping of their bellies on the concrete as if they were drawn to the sound. When the song was over and changed to "The Beginning of the End" (Random play), the frogs were completely silent.

I can't help but wonder if the sounds were intentionally made to promote this rise in the frogs. With what the lyrics and title are implying, Reznor's change in tone to a semi-prophet (I feel if he were a true prophet he would be a bit more straight with his prophecies and not require people pay to join his fan club to submit inquiries like this to him directly), and the plague of frogs summoned by Moses preceding the Exodus from Egypt; does he really hope that people will not see that he is "The Great Destroyer"?

The album is about God and the beast's manipulation of God's will. I am trying to believe that Reznor's intentions in his recent works that he is trying to warn us of this. I feel that he interchangibly uses God references to both point out this manipulation and to point out that there is still a good God that we must align ourselves with, and that his will is not the one manipulated by the beast to control the masses.

This album has opened my eyes and caused me to pursue more knowledge on the prophecies. Yesterday, Easter, I came accross this site - http://www.worldslastchance.com/. While I am disinclined to fall for every off the wall apocalyptic conspiracy theory, which I have seen too many of, this one seems different. It is very straightforward and I wonder if what is stated in the article on this site is what Reznor is cryptically trying to warn mankind of. I am not sure of the reaction this will get, however, I cannot be silent about what I have found over the weekend since listening to Year Zero. --Slingblade 4/9/2007 (PST).

I really doubt God would man figure out when He's coming to end it all by looking up a few numbers and reading a secret message. Number manipulation to prove something is just that, manipulation. It is funny because it is true. If you don't believe me, try it. I'm sure gathering the CD, speakers and a wetlands together can't be that difficult. In a way it is an ad for the site I checked out this weekend. I did explicitly mention, "While I am disinclined to fall for every off the wall apocalyptic conspiracy theory". I highly suggest anyone who reads it take it with the same grain of salt. Previously I had my own theories that the number of the beast directly related to the www in every web address (research hebrew numerology) along with the Visa mark that is everywhere you want to be, but hey. As for prophecies being a load of garbage, whatever makes you comfortable. Hey nothing lasts forever, including the deceptions put in front of us so keep an eye out. The site, clearly states that interpretations are not prophecy and also cleary states that much of what is listed is there interpretation. The scripture is quoted though in it though and much can not be argued with. Their 666 can be argued with though so any doubts, listen to them. I don't know about you but I care about my soul and everyone elses.

This is a great album and Reznor is absolutely serious issuing the warnings he is, much like Orewell and Huxley. It is a work of fiction very closely tied to the interpretation found on that site though and as long as you do heed my warnings and take it with a grain of salt, all are better off reading it. I may be a nutjob, but I have been working on developing my nutjobiness for many years. I also have a very lucrative career going for me as a backup in case we do all have a chance to progress and live out our lives as we are today and keep this world from meeting the end. If that doesn't happen though, I am ready (knock on wood) for whatever the powers that be throw at me. Maybe the only news some of you have had an eye on lately is regarding this album, but there has been mounting evidence released in the past week that this world is going down, and very very fast.

If you choose not to believe in a higher power, that is your perogative. I have a very skeptical and scientific mind, but the golden rule of philosophy is that we truly do know nothing, which is also a firmly held cornerstone of Judeo-Christianity. My cat absolutely hates this song... Does that count? Seriously though. I don't know if Reznor has found God, or if it is only the theme of this album, but Slingblade makes a damn good point. This album has something to say. Trent wouldn't have released it if it didn't mean something to him, if he didn't want us to get something outta it. He has been quoted saying he doesn't like the way modern music sounds, that there is no message or point behind it. i'd certainly say trent's making some rather obvious 'predicitions' but, only in the way books like Fahrenheit 451 or 1984 (or movies like Bladerunner, THX 1138, Soylent Green and Code 42) do. they keep realistic tones, base in reality as their starting points, then unfold a plausible outcome for the state of tomorrow based on the state of today.

The number 6

Ok, I'm probably just talking out my ass, but has anyone else noticed the frequency of the number 6. Ok. honestly I just have too much time on my hands. And it could also be interpreted af the number 24. But I like 6 better.

Suggestions

Has anybody checked the album tracks and the extra sound bits for back masking? I don't personally have the time, seeing as it will be a lengthy process, but if you run the wav format files through a program found at http://www.reversespeech.com/rssoftware.htm you can reverse them and look for hidden messages like the ones found in stairway to heaven and other such songs. I wouldn't put it past Trent.

7=the end? (7 as a numerological message)

ok, the number is 13102951040 (survivalisum phone clip).Now, using numerology, this number becomes 7. in biblical numerology 7 is the number of spirtual purity, but in another context the number becomes something compleatly new: the word Abadon (hebrew for hell) is found in the bible 7 times. there are also 7 deadly sins. now this may seem unimportant until you take into context the message you hear after dialing 13102951040. this message talks about the injustice people suffer under the government. Now, take into account the title of another of NIN's political attaks the the government: Capital G. G is the seventh letter of the alphabet. G is also the fist letter in old G.W.bush's name. Ghenna ( not sure on that spelling) or the end of days also begins with G. so, persumably the number 7 was used intendtionly. 7 seems to be a reoccuring theme.

now, I'm not saying these connections mean anything, but it is interesting at least.

on a side note, i also thought this was ammusing, given my previous statemnts on the #7. Bush=40(2+21+19+8=40) 40 is the number of death in the bible(it rained for 40 day and 40 nights, ect.)
