It has one of the most unusual metres of any song to enjoy popular radio play, alternating three measures of 7/8 time with one measure of 4/4 time in the verses (in effect, a 29/8 time signature). The chorus is in the common 4/4 time signature. As a result, with eighth notes getting the count, the song has a BPM rate of 269.

This version is featured only appears in the ''Fortnite'' game mode ''Fortnite Festival'' and differs from the album version in a few ways: the . The vocal performance track is differentthe original as it appears on ''The Downward Spiral'', but it is missing clean, without any of the processing or distortion effects heard on the album version, probably to make it easier to play the game to. For censorship purposes, the two instances of the "take the skin and peel it back" linelyric are removed entirely, and "I want to fuck it also up" has been replaced with the preceding "I want to smash it up" lyric repeated. At the conclusion of the album version portion, there is an outro section attached. It contains a newly recorded studio version of the "all the pigs all lined up" outro that is usually added on when typically played in liveperformances. The outro section ends abruptly.

A previous version of the video was partially shot but abandoned, and is included in glimpses on the ''Closure'' DVD. The band performs the song in a red, cave-like set with water at their feet, with a dwarf in troll-like costume running in and out of the set. Photographer Joseph Cultice, A camera man who was worked on set to document the shoot, NIN videos once elaborated on the original video for ''Revolver'' Magazineshoot:

And they We shot it maybe five times all in two days around the way throughend of January 1994. The thing was, and that was itI don't think we shot everything we were supposed to ... What we did shoot was supposed to happen stuff with the entire band (not just Trent) in the scene was therevarious 'dark's creature hands that come up situations.
