Mark Romanek (born September 18, 1959) is an award-winning music video director and film director. He has directed music videos for numerous artists such as The The, David Bowie, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Beck and Sonic Youth.
One of his earliest notable videos was for the Nine Inch Nails song "Closer." Its critical acclaim was matched by its critical controversy as many accused the video of being disturbing, demonic and demented. Additionally, Trent Reznor was originally hired to score Romanek's second full-length feature film, One Hour Photo.
